I’m really excited to share with you all this special audio story I got to write, record, and produce for one of the podcasts that I follow, This Filipino American Life. As part of a new series of guest-produced audio stories they’re doing, I’m thrilled to share with you all “About Tita;” a reflection on my Great Aunt Justita’s life and how it intertwines with my own.
This was originally an essay that I had written a few years ago, but has never been published before. However, when I was approached by one of the members of the podcast to produce an audio story for them, I knew that this would make for the perfect opportunity to share it. Justita was a very special person in my dad’s life, and even though I never knew her, she’s a guide in mine as well.
The audio story’s release makes for very special timing, for this month actually marks 25 years since my first and only meeting with her. To take this anniversary and make it even more unique is a very humbling experience.
Many thanks to the TFAL team for letting me share this meaningful story. Please go give it a listen. If you like what you hear, check out the other episodes on the podcast and consider subscribing as well!
