Coming Soon: “Interview with an Aswang”

It’s been a long time since I’ve done one of these things; announce a play that I’ve written that is being produced. In fact, the last time this happened was all the way back in 2018, in the midst of all the anticipations that took place that August. I didn’t think I would find myself in such a position like this again for quite a while, but when opportunities arise during such dire times, you go for them.

I am pleased to announce that I have a newly written play that will be featured in the inaugural Winter One Act Festival from Rainy Day Artistic Collective; a newly established theatre collective based in the Seattle area. My play is called “Interview with an Aswang” and it’s about a college student who interviews her friend for a class assignment about what her life is like as an aswang – a shapeshifting, vampire-like creature from Filipino folklore.

I’ve been working with the director and actors the past few weeks on this and it’s coming together really well. I love how everyone is really getting into it and the actors have already grasped who their characters are really well. As is the case with previous plays I’ve done, I will be doing a commentary about the making of this one later this month.

“Interview with an Aswang” is just one of a culmination of stories that will be performed for a virtual audience, so for once, there’s no limits on where you live in order to tune in for one of the show dates. The Winter One Act Festival will be happening on Friday February 19th and Saturday February 20th at 7:00pm Pacific. Tickets are $7 and in order to register, please refer to the email address that’s listed in the promo banner above.

I hope you enjoy the show!

If you are able to, I hope you can go support me in all that I do by leaving a tip over on Ko-fi. I do a lot of writing that I get paid very little for or not at all, and so this is a way of showing your support other than just reading my content. Donations of varying quantities and frequencies are greatly appreciated.
