8 Years of Lola By the Bay and 2021 Year in Review

For those who celebrate Christmas, Merry Christmas! For those who don’t, I hope you have a really good day anyway.

I can’t believe it’s been this long since the formation of my little corner of cyberspace already. It’s grown to be the virtual hub that I’ve always wanted for myself, and then some. I created the website to make it easy, for those who don’t already follow me on social media, to keep up with writing projects I have going on, as well as what’s on my mind on a (mostly) week-to-week basis. Looking back on my posts over the last 11 months, I think I’ve started to notice just how blatant and honest I’m becoming about both where I am in my journey as a writer, as well as the things that I truly care about. Looking Back on “An Absolute Mind” 5 Years Later

Well… here we are. Two days from now will mark five years since the release of my second novel, An Absolute Mind. Half a decade has passed since I made this work of mine available to the world, and I continue to be astonished as to how relevant some of the themes and topics covered in the novel have and continue to become. The Journal Entry That Could Have Been Written

On this solemn anniversary and on the verge of completing yet another pandemic-era journal, my thoughts turn to my routine of keeping a journal once more, although from a different angle than from how I’ve explored it previously. I’ve talked a lot about the act of keeping a journal when it’s become so scarce to see from others, writing through major global events, and also the simple satisfaction of having a place to document everything that’s on your mind, without fear of judgment. But today, I’m thinking about a journal entry that could have been written, had I started keeping one just a little bit earlier than when I did.

Where Am I As a Novelist?

This is a post that I’ve been meaning to write for a couple of months, but I feel that now is the right time to finally do it. This will most definitely retract statements I had made in interviews I did earlier this year. And just as a heads up that this isn’t meant to bash or pit blame on anyone in particular, but rather to explain where I’m at and what I’ve been feeling.

365 Days

Throughout this past week, many people – public figures and otherwise – have been marking one year since life upended as they know it. Today is my turn. One year ago today was when I was last onsite at my day job’s office. Other people I knew had already started working from home about a week before I did and just from the looks of my commutes, they were getting emptier and emptier. I was not surprised when, while commuting home that day, I received an email from work, saying that we would be working from home for the next two weeks. Little did I, or anyone else for that matter, expect for those supposed few weeks to turn into a year. And yet even as I arrived home that day, I looked back at the outside world, with a lurking feeling that it would be the last time for a very long while where I’d be able to roam about it as freely as I did that day. 7 Years of Lola By the Bay and 2020 Year in Review

A part of me has always found it perplexing that I chose to start up my website at the end of a year. I sometimes wonder, “Why not have waited one more week until you were in the new year before finally starting it?” Well, seven years later, I look back on that decision and I think it worked out, actually. I get to both acknowledge the formation of this constantly growing website and look back on the past year in one go… and… well…. needless to say, this is quite a year to look back on. Special Sunday Post: 4 Years of “An Absolute Mind”

Woah is me, it’s been that long already?! It’s such a shock that I simply had to write a post about it on the actual day of the anniversary. As of today, it has now been four years since the release of An Absolute Mind. My sci-fi novel of a young woman with an incredible cognitive ability making the decision to demand change for the betterment of the future has been around this long already, and even after all this time, it’s still keeping me occupied.
