5 Things About “An Absolute Mind” I’m Most Proud Of

This whole month has been devoted to celebrating the release of my second novel, An Absolute Mind, and on this last Saturday of November, that fact is not about to change. While there are a few things about the novel that, looking back on it now, I wish I had done better, I definitely see fit to pat myself on the back on the different aspects of the story that made it what it is now. Therefore, inspired by a video released by Phil Wang yesterday, today I’m going to go over five things about An Absolute Mind I’m most proud of (and for those who haven’t read it, don’t worry, for this is a spoiler-free post). Let’s get started: Continue reading “5 Things About “An Absolute Mind” I’m Most Proud Of”

Aftermath

I’m catching my breath for a minute on this Saturday morning as I look back on this week… and what a week it’s been! I can’t believe it. I released my second novel! This makes for an exciting time that is to be celebrated and cherished to the fullest.

Unlike within the first few days following the release of A Moment’s Worth, the response to An Absolute Mind has definitely been more immediate. For one thing, as mentioned in my previous post, the very first review was released a week before the novel was published, and I’m so happy to see how the reviewer Catie made it evident on how much she liked it. Special Wednesday Post: The First Review and the Print Editions

Okay, so I wasn’t planning to write another post the day after An Absolute Mind came out, but due to a few new updates, I felt it necessary to share them as soon as possible.

With that said, I’d like to go over the first item. As it turns out, the first review for An Absolute Mind has been out since last week. FanGirlNation Magazine wrote a thoughtful (and positive) review, highlighting specific details they liked about the novel, all the while keeping all the plot twists and other maneuvers under wraps. Special Tuesday Post: Second Novel Title and Release Date REVEAL

It’s been in the works for over two years and is now almost ready to be released to the world. While I’ve said a few things here and there regarding what to expect from my second novel, I haven’t given a whole lot about it away. In many ways, it’s very different from A Moment’s Worth, but I hope that people who have read my first novel will find similar kind of vibes to different insights and thought experiments in this one too. I’ve been working really hard on this new novel of mine for so long, and with the subject matter that it’s dealing with, I feel that it is important to release it this year of all years, especially in regards to all the issues and events that we’ve been through and are still going through.

So without further ado, I want to go ahead and finally announce the title and release date for it. The second novel is called… Continue reading “Special Tuesday Post: Second Novel Title and Release Date REVEAL”

Life with the Stories from “A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away”: About “Star Wars”

Over the course of the past year, I’ve made the effort to expand my dialogue about storytelling by going beyond the boundaries of books and out into the mediums of TV and movies. I do so by devoting a least one post every other month to an overview of a TV show or movie that’s reached a significant time in its history (i.e. series premiere, series finale, film release, anniversary of a release/premiere, etc.). Previously, I discussed my thoughts about the latest Pixar film, “The Good Dinosaur.” Today, in light of the release of the newest film of the saga, I discuss my love for the much hailed (and dissed) space opera, “Star Wars.”

Fresh Eyes, Cover Designs, Continual Inspiration, and Thinking Ahead (Second Novel Status Report #3)

Another four months has passed since I last gave a full-on update about the making of my second novel. Therefore, I believe that’s just enough time for me to write up a new one. As I look back on the progress on the novel between the previous update and now, I realize now that a lot has happened, and as you can imagine, I really like that.

From Writing to Editing (Second Novel Status Report #2)

It’s been four months since I made the first update regarding progress on my second novel.  Since then I’ve mentioned it briefly here and there, without going too in-depth on the process.  However, I feel that enough time has passed now that I found it appropriate to write up another update.  Besides, since my first update, I’ve transitioned to a new stage in the process.

A little over two weeks ago, I finished the rough draft of the second novel.  It took a little over six months to write it (which is a shorter period of time than when I wrote A Moment’s Worth), and maybe the cool thing about it is it’s longer as well.  Since then, I’ve begun the editing process.  At the moment, I’m going through it myself and making edits.  I already knew ahead of time that there would be things I would want to change in the manuscript, and so now I’m taking the time to do so.

Writing About the Future (Second Novel Status Report #1)

At the time I established this blog, I guess you can say that it was at good timing.  I was already in the editing stage for A Moment’s Worth and I found myself talking about various concepts related to the novel, leading up to its release.  For my second novel though, I find myself blogging not during a sliver of its making, but rather the whole way through; and with that, I’ve been wondering for a while as to when would be the wisest time to say anything about it.  It’s been three months since I started writing my second novel, and with that, I decided to go ahead and say something in particular about it.

I’ve been vague on details to many people regarding what it’s about conceptually.  What I have been explicit about though is the fact that my second novel takes place in the future. Continue reading “Writing About the Future (Second Novel Status Report #1)”
