Thoughts About the Process of Adaptation Through Writing

I’ve touched on the subject of adaptations quite a few times in the past, and it’s an act I’m no stranger to either; particularly through my efforts in adapting An Absolute Mind into a screenplay and from adapting “Interview with an Aswang” from a Zoom play into a short film. But there’s this other project of mine that has had its fair share of adaptations as well; a third form of it having taken place recently.

Playwright’s Commentary: “Interview with an Aswang”

It’s been two and a half years since I last had a play I wrote be produced. Honestly, I thought it would be a good while before something of the sort ever happened again, as I shifted focus towards getting my screenplays out there, as well as work to complete something resembling a draft of the third novel-in-progress. But sometimes, opportunities come along that you just can’t pass up, and it’s because I went for one that eventually led to the creation of my latest one-act play and first play to be performed on a virtual platform, “Interview with an Aswang.”

Revisiting “46” After Electing 46

Last week’s anniversary post made it pretty obvious that An Absolute Mind has been on my mind as of late following the election of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris into office. However, another story of mine that has been prominently thought about recently is my 2017 short story, “46.”

4 Years of “A Moment’s Worth”

If I thought the stretch of time between 2014 and last year was prominent, imagine what I’m feeling now. Tomorrow will mark four years since the release of A Moment’s Worth; my debut novel that focused on three core subjects throughout the storylines: the interconnections among the human race, the fine line between what is real and what could be a dream, and the value of moments in time.

A Heart’s Desire: Recommended Viewing

This day has be a bit occupied with creative minds coming together, and so it seemed well timed to put out a new Recommended Analyzing piece. This also comes at a good time for the very source material I’m going to have you take a look at today, for it’s a short film that has gone viral recently.

Therefore, the title “In a Heartbeat” should ring a bell. For those who don’t know, in the span of four minutes, the film tells the story of a boy who has his heart set on another boy in his school, and in this case, it’s quite literal. The heart wants what it wants as it pops out of the former’s chest, and persistently makes an ongoing strive to the other boy.

Special Tuesday Post: “46” is Now Available!

One week after first announcing it, I am happy to announce that “46” is now available!

Much like all of my works, it is available as an e-book on several sights such as that of Amazon and Smashwords. More outlets will be made available in due time and once I put up a page exclusively for my short stories, I’ll be sure to update it as they appear.

Special Tuesday Post: Coming July 11th…

If you’ve been following me either on social media or this blog, then you may recall how I’ve been working on a secret project the past few months. Well, to liven up what feels like, at least to me, a very off-feeling Independence Day here in the United States, and also the fact that I will be releasing it in one week, today I’m announcing just what this secret project of mine is. It’s not a large project, but it’s an important one; not only to me, but hopefully to others, as it brings the current political climate into the center of attention, via a short story. Yes that’s right: a short story; something I haven’t released on my own since 2014 when I released “The Shadows.” Next week, on July 11th, I’m releasing a short story called “46.”

Happy 3rd Anniversary to “The Shadows”!

I’m at that point now where it’s been three years since becoming a published author. For those who’ve been following this blog, then you’ll know that that happened not when I released A Moment’s Worth in July 2014, but about a month and a half before via a soft launch, when I made my short story, “The Shadows,” available to Kindle users.

This is the official synopsis for it:

Just like how light can contradict darkness, darkness can obscure the light.
That’s exactly how the shadows – the Sun Spirits – work as they go about day-to-day, observing humanity. However, after hearing too much about humanity’s act of ongoing violence and other wrongdoings during the daily meeting of the Council of the Sun Spirits, the Chieftain declares a ban on the appearance of the sun for all of eternity. It will take a lot of conviction from the council for him to see with eyes of reasoning.
