Asian American Outlets and Announcements

It’s May, which means it is now officially Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. We’re also about a quarter into the year now, and I was hoping to have something to say regarding my ongoing search for a new Asian American outlet to join post-YOMYOMF.

Since my last update on this subject matter, if you’ve been following along, I actually have done two profile pieces on two Asian American creatives for the blog for my work’s website, and there are currently a few others in the works. It feels good to be conducting interviews again, for that is a skill of mine that I can always work on improving.

But I still want a place to go where I can express my interpretations on the latest that is happening in API entertainment, much like the example I had provided last time. What’s stopping me are the risks of using photographs that are clearly not my own (i.e. of red carpet events, stills from films and TV shows, etc.). There have been those who’ve reassured me that it’s fine as long as I credit all the photos and the approach is well intended, then I shouldn’t overthink it. Still though, I can’t help but worry, for I don’t want to find myself slapped with a lawsuit.

My hope is that it won’t be that much longer before I reach a final decision about this.

It’s because it’s Asian Pacific American Heritage Month that things are about to get quite busy for me. That is why I want to take this time to announce that I’m probably not going to be doing my weekly blog post for the next few weeks. I’m really not going to have much time – if at all – to do so. If I do find myself with some spare time, I’ll try to schedule something. Otherwise, the next post probably won’t be until the end of the month.

This is not like the hiatus I took last fall. This is just a moment in time where  circumstances are beyond my control. If you want to see what exactly I’m up to, be sure to follow me on social media for the latest updates.

Otherwise, if you want do me a favor for this Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, I’d love it if you can check out one (if not both) of my two novels, A Moment’s Worth and An Absolute Mind. This mixed race Filipino American author would be absolutely pleased to gain new readers this month of all months.

I’d also love it if you can donate to my Ko-fi campaign (which has been online for a year as of this month). As many writers can tell you, sometimes writing can be a thankless job, but a little support every now and then can go a long way.

I’ll be back soon.
